Quiet Trajectory: A Map of Life

April EJ Oh’s work explores the accumulation of time and the fragments that shape a life. Expanding from the tradition of jogakbo, her textile practice layers material, gesture, and repetition into structures that hold traces of time. Rather than defining form, her lines reveal movement, decisions, and the unfolding path of lived experience.

April EJ Oh

April Eunjoo Oh is a Korean-American artist and designer based in Los Angeles, originally born in Seoul, South Korea. With a background in fashion design and contemporary jewelry, her practice spans fine jewelry, wearable art, and a wide range of experimental objets. Her work is deeply rooted in personal memory, emotional landscapes, and the quiet tension between harmony and conflict.

Educated at FIDM (USA) and Bunka Fashion College (Japan), April refined her understanding of form and silhouette before expanding into fine jewelry and metal art through advanced studies at Calstone College (USA) and Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School in Florence (Italy). Across disciplines, she remains drawn to textile-based techniques, often combining them with precious metals, pigments, and paper to create tactile, narrative-rich pieces.

At the heart of her work lies the exploration of human nature—the dynamics of inner struggle, balance, and transformation. She describes her practice as “a simple expression of complex thoughts,” a meditative process shaped by repetition, memory, and time. Her pieces are not only objects but vessels of reflection, infused with movement and silence, delicacy and strength.
