冷静と情熱のあいだ

미국, 한국, 중국, 타이완, 일본을 기반으로 활발히 활동하는 14인의 작가가 참여하는 그룹전, [냉정과 열정 사이 冷静と情熱のあいだ - Between Calmness and Passion]가 오는 10월 4일(토)부터 23일(목)까지 부에나 파크의 The Green Gallery와 아카디아의 alt projects에서 동시 개최됩니다.

이번 전시는 일본의 유명 소설 ‘냉정과 열정사이' 에서 영감을 받아, 구상과 추상, 이성과 감정, 기억과 물질성 사이의 미묘한 긴장감을 현대 미술의 언어로 풀어냅니다. 참여 작가들은 회화, 조각, 설치, 직조, 판화 등 다양한 매체를 활용해 자신만의 방식으로 ‘사이(間)’라는 공간을 해석합니다.

이번 전시의 제목은 일본 소설과 영화로 널리 알려진 『냉정과 열정 사이』에서 차용되었다. 원작 소설은 에쿠니 가오리와 쓰지 히토나리가 각기 다른 시선으로 같은 이야기를 엮어낸 독특한 형식의 소설이며, 영화 역시 두 시점이 교차하는 구조로 전개된다. 이 전시는 그 작품이 보여주었던 “사이”—냉정과 열정, 기억과 욕망, 객관과 주관 사이의 공간—에서 영감을 얻어 구성되었다.
예술은 언제나 이성과 감정, 질서와 충동이 교차하는 지점에서 태어난다. 이번 전시는 미국, 한국, 중국, 대만, 일본의 작가들이 추상과 구상, 전통과 실험의 경계를 넘나드는 설치, 드로잉, 회화, 조각, 콜라주 등 다양한 장르를 캔버스, 너무패널, 종이, 패브릭, 플렉시 글래스 등 다채로운 매체 위에 표현한다.

『냉정과 열정 사이』라는 제목이 상기시키듯, 이 전시는 차가운 객관성과 뜨거운 주관이 부딪히는 순간에 주목하는 동시에 원작과 같이 예술이 지나온 시공간을 넘나들며 과거와 현재, 미래를 사유하는 방식을 새롭게 제시한다. 관객은 작품 속에서 교차하는 시선과 맥락의 변화를 관찰하며, 균열과 충돌 속에서 제기되는 새로운 질문을 통해, 새로운 감각과 사고를 열어주는 예술의 본질적 힘을 발견하게 될 것이다.

Between Calmness and Passion
The title of this exhibition is borrowed from the widely known Japanese novel and film Between Calmness and Passion. The original novel, co-authored by Ekuni Kaori and Tsuji Hitonari, presents the same story from two different perspectives, while the film likewise unfolds through a structure of intersecting viewpoints. This exhibition draws inspiration from the “between” revealed in these works—the space between calmness and passion, memory and desire, and objectivity and subjectivity.
Art is always born at the intersection where reason and emotion, order and impulse collide. This exhibition brings together artists from the United States, Korea, China, Taiwan, and Japan, whose works traverse the boundaries of abstraction and figuration, tradition and experimentation across a variety of media—including installation, drawing, painting, sculpture, and collage—on diverse surfaces such as canvas, wood panel, paper, fabric, and plexiglass.

As the title Between Calmness and Passion suggests, the exhibition focuses on the moments where cold objectivity and passionate subjectivity collide, while also presenting, as in the original work, a renewed approach to reflecting on past, present, and future by traversing the spatiotemporal journey of art. Viewers observe the intersecting perspectives and shifting contexts within the works, and through the new questions arising in fractures and confrontations, they will discover art’s essential power to open new sensibilities and ways of thinking.
