Kim Dong-kyu is a Los Angeles–based fashion designer and textile artist whose work draws on remnants of everyday consumption and accumulated disposable materials. Through hand stitching, patchwork, and the use of ephemeral substances such as thermal-paper receipts and single-use tape, Kim transforms materials destined for immediate disposal into objects of sustained attention. His practice examines how acts of consumption leave behind traces of movement, choice, and desire, while questioning conventional systems of value rooted in permanence and durability. After Consumption, What Remains Asks invites viewers to reconsider what is preserved, what fades, and what meanings persist in the material aftermath of consumer culture.
